Triumph of the Nerds Part II

The continuation of the movie or more like the second part, was about the birth and growth of the software of Microsoft, Windows, or that’s how I see it. It all started when one of the biggest companies in that time (also in this time but it has been pushed a little away), IBM, wanted to create one of those new things called personal computers, because it was a booming market that apple was leading, so they started building one, and for that they also needed and OS, their own OS, so they called Bill Gates, and another guy forgotten in the history of computers. Like in the movie said, Bill was and ambitious person, that if he sees an opportunity, he would hesitate to take it, so that was what he did, because the other guy didn’t attend the call of IBM, Bill took it.

He said that he could make an OS, and IBM accept it. So Bill now to not write everything from scratch, he bought an personalized OS that some other guy made, and all the work Bill do was to refine that code, to make it more user friendly (in the words of that time). And with everything, IBM launched their first personal computer and it was a blast, mostly for the brand. And with that more companies saw their opportunity with reverse engineering to build their own PC’s, like Compac did. And so they did it, it was like an IBM’s PC, but more cheaper, and that made the profits of IBM go down, and with Microsoft only developing the software that all PC’s have, their profit skyrocket, and with that, they wanted to be at the vanguard, so they decided to create the new OS that it was Windows, and the new feature that it had was that it was a graphic interface, and they offer it to IBM, but with their square heads, they didn’t want anything of that. So Microsoft did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, and the rest is history.
